The unexplored, untamed North East trip

Hi to all travel-bug bitten Brothers & Sisters! North East!!!! Are you nuts? Marr na hey khya?? Aur kahi nahi mila jane ko? Did you know....?? the ULFAs kidnap people and kill them!!! BODOs are also active in there, and they will surely catch u if the ULFAs miss you! Blah...blah....blah... Heard these and more for the last 1 month. Anyways plan has been made, Friends have volunteered., Leaves have been sanctioned.., and tickets have been booked. Most importantly, obtained the ILP also!!! Ab kaun mai ka laal hume rok sak tha hey??? So that was it! After planning for more than a month. Consulting with friends, kind tour agents and others we started our North East tour on 15th March 2008. This ' we ' consisted of myself, my colleagues Prem, Rahul, Gokul from Gurgaon and my ex-colleague Apoorv from Bangalore. Nagala Re-visit

"Whom did you like the most in this group?" Biju asked.. "Come on yaar... don't be shy... which girl or lady did you like in this group?" We were having an intro-session at the 2nd pool in Nagala on a Sunday afternoon. Biju was the organizer who took the challenge of taking 82 members, most of them first-timers to CTC's most favourite trekking spot, the Nagala western entry. We had started from Koyambedu at 5:30 AM and after a short stop at Poondi reservoir, we reached Nagala at 8:30. I got my first shock ten minutes later when my Nikon D80 declared 'she' was not working on that Sunday! Leh itinerary

This is the itinerary given to us by Vishal. I have included a few comments based on our experience which might be helpful for anyone. Aug 08th - Pick up from Delhi (drive to Manali), Aprox - 550 Km/ Leave Delhi early afternoon, so that you can reach Manali early morning, then you will get enough time to rest in Manali (hotel will let u know), Have your early break fast, start your journey towards Serchu. Our comment : If you are starting from Delhi in the evening, after you reach Manali next morning, please consider giving the Driver a good rest. It is very much necessary for the drive ahead! So instead of evening, if you start early morning from Delhi, you can find yourselves in Manali in the late evening. A nice sleep in the night will make you as well as the Driver refreshed and ready for the journey ahead! Aug 09th - Manali - Serchu.
