The unexplored, untamed North East trip

Hi to all travel-bug bitten Brothers & Sisters! North East!!!! Are you nuts? Marr na hey khya?? Aur kahi nahi mila jane ko? Did you know....?? the ULFAs kidnap people and kill them!!! BODOs are also active in there, and they will surely catch u if the ULFAs miss you! Blah...blah....blah... Heard these and more for the last 1 month. Anyways plan has been made, Friends have volunteered., Leaves have been sanctioned.., and tickets have been booked. Most importantly, obtained the ILP also!!! Ab kaun mai ka laal hume rok sak tha hey??? So that was it! After planning for more than a month. Consulting with friends, kind tour agents and others we started our North East tour on 15th March 2008. This ' we ' consisted of myself, my colleagues Prem, Rahul, Gokul from Gurgaon and my ex-colleague Apoorv from Bangalore. Trek to Tada falls... (Operation Southern Spice started!)

I t's been 3 (3 and a half to be exact) months I said my farewell to my friends in Delhi and the Himalayas. 3 months of no trekking, no rafting, no long/short trips or even sightseeing! Went home a couple of times as its just an over night's journey. Life was getting monotonous for me and to make things worse Varun and Radhika went to valley of flowers for 1 week and Ashutosh was happily planning team outings in Alcatel!!! Enough is enough. I have to plan something soon or I will go mad. I asked Kishore whether he is ready to come with me for some trekking somewhere around chennai. He said "Ok! " That was enough. We decided the place - TADA falls (95 km from chennai in Andra Pradesh) Once that was done, we sent a mail to everyone in my office asking if anyone is interested? Chakrata - A wonderful destination - if the climate is good!

W hoever said "Traveling doesn't need any planning...just pack your bags and go" is either rich or is lying! It needs some homework and a good planning before the start. Else this can happen to anyone... A trip that could have been completed with 700-750 km ended up in 930 km. Almost 14 hrs instead of a 10 hrs journey. Traffic jams everywhere, hot sun and a non functional AC. A driver whose main intention was to increase both the km drive and the time. And finally a thrill ride on GTK Road at 120-130 km/h with a drunken driver on the wheel. Thats our trip to Chakrata - A good destination but bad timing and planning. April 2, 3 , 4 (Good friday + Easter weekend) 3 days leave! Since I am not the regular church going christian boy, I decided to use these 3 days for another trip.
