Haridwar - Rishikesh

The travel bug started to distrub me as soon as I got the holiday list for 2007!

Jan 26th falls on a friday. That means 3 consecutive days leave!!!! How could we (myself and my friends) sit in the room doing nothing?

How abt a trip for 3 days? Night Stay in the some jungle.... campfire...Safari... Hmmmm... its sounded tempting for all of us. After gathering a lot of info from the net, dismissing Sariska National Park and Jim Corbett NP, we decided we are going to Rajaji National Park!

As per our plan we were to enjoy 1 or 2 Safaris inside the park, get accomodation inside any of the forest guest houses there and next day visit Rishikesh! But once we started the trip, changes were made to the well laid plans; but believe me, it was one hell of a trip!

Now let me introduce you to the "we".

Premanandhan from the Build team, Bharathi his room-mate from IBM, Partha Bhai, Dhilip, Pradeep, Amit from Testing team and myself.

Day 3 March 17 2008 Bomdila Apoorv and myself woke up before everyone else and we were ready. Soon we heard aunty singing her song of the day, "Kaho na pyaar hey... kaho na pyaar hey..." Prem went to her and requested her to give him hot water. Soon he was also ready. Gokul and Rahul were enjoying their sleep as much a possible and we had to go and wake them up. Anyways, by the time it was 6:00 AM, we settled the bills and were ready to leave. But there was a problem... Our driver bhayya, Bittu the great hasn't come yet! We waited for half and hr. Chakrata - A wonderful destination - if the climate is good!

W hoever said "Traveling doesn't need any planning...just pack your bags and go" is either rich or is lying! It needs some homework and a good planning before the start. Else this can happen to anyone... A trip that could have been completed with 700-750 km ended up in 930 km. Almost 14 hrs instead of a 10 hrs journey. Traffic jams everywhere, hot sun and a non functional AC. A driver whose main intention was to increase both the km drive and the time. And finally a thrill ride on GTK Road at 120-130 km/h with a drunken driver on the wheel. Thats our trip to Chakrata - A good destination but bad timing and planning. April 2, 3 , 4 (Good friday + Easter weekend) 3 days leave! Since I am not the regular church going christian boy, I decided to use these 3 days for another trip. My plans of attending Varun's wedding on Wednesday, 31st March in Hydrabad got cancelled in the last moment. On 25th march, I resigned and was on my notice period. So taking 2 or 3 days of
