Tawang sightseeing

Day 4

Tawang

Today's plan was to visit the Tawang Monastery, Maduri Lake, go to the Border and see china (if possible, get some soil/snow from china), some local sight seeing etc etc. But to visit the Maduri lake and Border we need to get permits from Deputy Commissioner's Office which will open at 10:00AM. So we decided to visit the Monastery first.

As soon as Bittu came, he told we cannot go to the Maduri lake and Border. You need to take permit and it will take 1 day.

After telling him to shut the fu-- up, we told him to take us to the Monastery. Around 9:30 AM we finished the Monastery and museum and reached the Deputy Commissioner's Office. We were the first group to reach there and gave the application for the permits. Around 10:30 AM we got the permits and told Bittu to start. Even though we were the first to get the permit, Bittu knowingly allowed other cabs to start first and then followed behind. On the way it started snowing and we enjoyed it whenever we had to get out for entry in check posts on the way.

Soon it was too much of snow everywhere and Bittu started complaining we cant go further. Apoorv made sure he kept quiet telling "look at the other cars in front and drive quietly". In one place one of the small car got stuck in deep snow and we all had to get down and push it out of it.

Just 3 kms before Madhuri lake, the other cars (with ladies and children) decided its too dangerous to go ahead and pulled over. Seeing this our Bittu also started complaining and wanted to go back. We told him to stay there and started to walk forward. We walked for a couple of kms, posed for a dozen of snaps and then turned back. (we knew that the Maduri lake will also be frozen and we'll surely miss it) The whole area was just white, white and nothing else..

We came back and were shocked to see neither Bittu nor our car. The other cars were still there. After 10 mins we could see our car coming from a long distance. The bugger didnt even have the manners to ask us before going somewhere and he didnt tell us anything. Since we had already blasted him the earlier day, we didnt say anything this time.

We reached Tawang in the afternoon and had our lunch. While we were having lunch the Bittu went away and we didnt see him when we came out. We decided to visit the handicrafts store some 5 kms down the hill. Since the climate was good we decided to walk. However we informed our hotel manager and some of the taxi drivers in the market to inform Bittu where we are going. We walked all the way downhill and checked a few shops for something to buy. Soon we were tired and still we had a long distance to cover. We were ready to go to till the HAndicrafts manufacturing unit. But what if Bittu didnt come at all? We waited for a few more mins and decided to go back to the main market.

On our way back we saw him coming down. We were happy... Atleast he showed the courtesy to come looking for us!
But he was Bittu... and so theres always some catch when he does something good!!! And there it was.. On the front seat!

Along with Bittu there was a local guy sitting in the car. Others went and sat in the back and I sat in the front besides the new gentle-man! Bittu was in a very good mood and was talking to the other guy in a loud voice. Soon I realised both of them were drunk!

His driving was Ok. So I didnt make it an issue. But what if something happened???

We visited the store and then told him to take us to the Tawang War memorial. We paid homage to the the thousands of brave men who fought for our country and gave their lives.

In the evening, we returned to the market and told him to go and take rest. We did some window shopping and some real shopping and returned to our hotel. Since we had a long day ahead, we had an early dinner and slept early.
