Mumbai Attack - Let this be the last!

Gurgaon

Its been more than 53 hours now and the attack in Mumbai is still continuing. Not only Mumbai, the whole nation is following the happenings with shock, anger and disbelief. I've always rejoiced with this great city in times of joy and cried whenever crisis struck - both natural and man-made. This city has given me a lot in the past and seeing it like this, how can I sleep without even showing a small sign of allegiance or devotion through my blog?

First of all I salute the REAL HEROES, Anti-Terrorism Squad Chief Hemant Karkare, Senior Inspector Vijay Salaskar, Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Kamte, NSG Commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan and all other officers who sacrificed their lives for saving the lives of others.

You have showed us what sacrifice means. You have showed us what Duty and Honor means. Words aren't sufficient Sirs, we salute you with our hearts..

I salute the valor of the commandos, army and police and fire fighting dept who did a great job in defeating the 'cowards' and bringing the situation under control at least this much. I am sure you'd have killed or captured the remaining bastards by tomorrow.

You have showed us what courage means.

I have heard about good service, bad service or worst service so far. But excellent and sensible service to the guests under such a crisis, this really is the first time. I salute the hotel staffs and management of the Taj for their 'Customer first' attitude.

You have showed us what hospitality means.

Though these days most of the channels have degraded the news program to the level of B grade movies, its good to see at least a couple of them providing good coverage and quality news. Keep it up!

Now, instead of pointing fingers or finding scapegoats, shall we think (sorry... we don't have the luxury of sitting and thinking anymore) about out further steps?

How long are we going to pretend that we are strong no one can lower our SPIRITS? Hasn't the comment on the city's or nation's 'spirit' become a cliche now that we use every time something bad happens? How long will it take to realize that its your 'hunger' not the spirit that makes u move ahead? If its really the spirit, then why don't we show it in our unity and in demanding for better tomorrow?

In 30 years if I am frustrated about the system and its failure (i admit I too am a part of it) think about the teenagers and youths. Will they have any faith in the system or the so called democracy as they grow up?

Why aren't we improving our security systems? Why aren't we improving our combat weapons? Why is the identification system for everyone in the country like SSN, introduced? Is it because we don't have enough money? Why are we not taking strict actions instead of just giving statements condemning the attacks?

If we don't act now, then we are not going to act at all! What really are we waiting for? Should there be an attack on the parliament with many 'ministerial casualties' or something more? Doesn't the lives of common man have no value? Lives of the HEROES who sacrificed their lives is of no values?

Please do not consider this attack as 'just another attack, in just another city' and move on. What if you are not a citizen of Mumbai or the 'Marati Manoos'? What if your relatives or friends were not there at this time? Take a closer look... the ones who lost their lives are not any different from your own loved ones!

We have to end this insensitivity right now because next time we might not be the ones sitting infront of the TVs watching the news. It will be us or our loved ones who will end up losing the lives... and in 2 days we will be frgotten!
