Vof & Hemkund Trek - Day 1

I was lucky to find a Badrinath bound GMOU bus at 8:00 AM. After settling down on my seat, I started wondering abt my next 4 or 5 days. Who knows what lies ahead? I had planned this for the last 1 yr. I know the name of places byheart. Anyways, why should I worry abt all the 4 days today itself? Today's mission is to reach Joshimath in the evening, and checkin in GMVN guest house. So let me enjoy the views on the way to Joshimath.

The bus started at 8:30 AM and passing Rishikesh, Shivpuri, Byasi, Devprayag, and many more Prayags reached Joshimat around 7:30 PM. It was raining in some places and sunny in some places. I even started wondering if my decision not to carry my jacket was a wrong one. But later I realised that it was ok! Not that cold! Also, the long bus journey was not that bad, like most of us think!

Getting down in Joshimath, I asked around and found the new GMVN Guest house and checked in. After taking bath, went out for an evening walk and took my dinner of Roti and Channa Masala in a dhaba. Then watched some local news abt rains and landslides between rishikesh and Joshimath, I went to sleep.

W hoever said "Traveling doesn't need any planning...just pack your bags and go" is either rich or is lying! It needs some homework and a good planning before the start. Else this can happen to anyone... A trip that could have been completed with 700-750 km ended up in 930 km. Almost 14 hrs instead of a 10 hrs journey. Journey to Tawang

Day 3 March 17 2008 Bomdila Apoorv and myself woke up before everyone else and we were ready. Soon we heard aunty singing her song of the day, "Kaho na pyaar hey... kaho na pyaar hey..." Prem went to her and requested her to give him hot water. Soon he was also ready. Gokul and Rahul were enjoying their sleep as much a possible and we had to go and wake them up. Anyways, by the time it was 6:00 AM, we settled the bills and were ready to leave. But there was a problem... Our driver bhayya, Bittu the great hasn't come yet! We waited for half and hr. We waited for 1 hr... Still no sign of Bittu! After one hr, Apoorv suggested we call Meeraj and tell him the situation. We looked around for an STD booth and found one and dialled him. We heard the ring on the other side and suddenly we heard the message. "The number you are trying to reach is busy.. please try later.."
