Munnar - A Summer gateway of Kerala

Feb 1 & 2 2008
Munnar - God's Own country

3 close friends get seperated and then settle in 3 different states (Karnataka, Haryana and... United States!) Initially they were in touch with each other regularly and as days goes by, slowly each of them becomes busy with their own issues, bugs, test cases, re-builds, and warehousings. Then suddenly one day they hear the song "Yaadon Ki Barat Nikhali..." They realise that they have been missing each other for almost 2 yrs and plan to meet in munnar. And they do meet!

Sounds very filmy? Well... eventhough many things said above is not true, 3 of us (Abdul Nabi working in an It company in Bangalore, Joseph Wilson from US and myself) planned a trip to munnar after almost 2 yrs.

Why munnar?

Because its a beautiful hill station in Kerala. Because it was very hot in the plains at that time. Because Ooty, Yearkaud and other places have been visited n number of times. So we decided its Munnar (3 streams)

Munnar got its name because it is where 3 mountain streams Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala meet. Whenever I hear about Munnar a picture of vast tea plantations, blue hills, grass lands and waterfalls comes to my mind. Its really a great experience to go there during rainy season as you will be able to see so many waterfalls throughout your journey.

From our place its around 250 Kms to Munnar. We hired a cab for 2 days and left to Munnar on Feb 1 2008. Since there was no one wating for us and no deadlines to meet, we travelled in a leisurely manner stopping to enjoy the nature whereever we wanted.

See for yoursef!
