Wagha Border - Jaha se 'apne' bane 'paraaye'

Any Amritsar trip is incomplete if you miss the Wagha Border. The changing of the guards and the flag lowering ceremony on either side of the border have become a tourist attraction. For me it was the first glimpse of Pakisthan. A filmy sensation of meeting with an estranged brother unfortunately seperated by the past, even deteriorating relationship at present... and a hope for a happy ending in future.

Just a simple thought of a simple software engineer...

Do we need a god who makes us kill each other his name? Do we need a bureaucracy that seperates us instead of unifying us...?

Too much complicated...? leave it...

How to get there:

From Amritsar you will get Shared Auto (25-30 per head) or you can hire one for something around 280-300/- Rs.

Journey to Tawang

Day 3 March 17 2008 Bomdila Apoorv and myself woke up before everyone else and we were ready. Soon we heard aunty singing her song of the day, "Kaho na pyaar hey... kaho na pyaar hey..." Prem went to her and requested her to give him hot water. Soon he was also ready. Gokul and Rahul were enjoying their sleep as much a possible and we had to go and wake them up. Anyways, by the time it was 6:00 AM, we settled the bills and were ready to leave. But there was a problem... Our driver bhayya, Bittu the great hasn't come yet! We waited for half and hr. We waited for 1 hr... Still no sign of Bittu! After one hr, Apoorv suggested we call Meeraj and tell him the situation. We looked around for an STD booth and found one and dialled him. We heard the ring on the other side and suddenly we heard the message. "The number you are trying to reach is busy.. please try later.." Chakrata - A wonderful destination - if the climate is good!

W hoever said "Traveling doesn't need any planning...just pack your bags and go" is either rich or is lying! It needs some homework and a good planning before the start. Else this can happen to anyone... A trip that could have been completed with 700-750 km ended up in 930 km. Almost 14 hrs instead of a 10 hrs journey. Traffic jams everywhere, hot sun and a non functional AC. A driver whose main intention was to increase both the km drive and the time. And finally a thrill ride on GTK Road at 120-130 km/h with a drunken driver on the wheel. Thats our trip to Chakrata - A good destination but bad timing and planning. April 2, 3 , 4 (Good friday + Easter weekend) 3 days leave! Since I am not the regular church going christian boy, I decided to use these 3 days for another trip.
